My name is Bruce Arthurs. I am a Canadian artist known for my “storytelling”, largely (but not exclusively) through the depiction of the Mexican Masked “superheroes”, known as Luchadores.
The Spanish word Lucha translates to “struggle” or “fight”. This struggle can be literal (as in an arena) but for me, and millions of others, the struggle is metaphorical one – the struggle to succeed, overcome, to rise above in our daily existence.
The intention of my art
I am looking to convey emotion, effort, mood, story and action in my art. I have found the dramatic imagery of Lucha Libre to be a powerful vehicle for my intentions. Music also greatly influences the art I create. When reviewing my Instagram / Facebook, please be sure to leave your sound on and you will experience the correlation – often a lyric I hear gets me seeking out an idea to pair it with.
